We Are
Breakaway
Communications was founded by Kelly Fitzgerald and
Pamela Preston, communications professionals with
a combined 20+ years of experience developing and
implementing communications campaigns for startups,
small & medium businesses, and Fortune 500 organizations.
Prior to establishing Breakaway Communications, the
partners managed TSI Communications, a mid-sized PR
firm with 160+ employees, and offices in New York,
San Francisco and London. TSI Communications was purchased
by IPG in 1997 and merged with Golin/Harris International
in 2002.
While at TSI, they won several industry awards including
the Gold “Best of Show” CIPRA for their
work on IBM’s Deep Blue campaign, the chessmatch
between the IBM supercomputer and Grandmaster Gary
Kasparov. The team they led developed and executed
this two-week campaign which resulted in three billion
impressions worldwide.
