What I'm Reading - Gemma Craven

Over the past two weeks I have been traveling around both the US and overseas, meeting the Breakaway team and hosting planning meetings with new and existing clients. Reading is one of the few things in the world that keeps me sane!

The New York Times: Wherever I am in the world, I always read the NYT. I love the blend of tech, business and world news on top of local news. When I was in San Francisco last week, it was good to see the paper’s relatively new Bay Area section. And as I will be buying an iPad when the second generation comes out, I know I will be able to read the Times using its new iPad app on my next swanky new toy.

Mashable: I am having a new love affair with Mashable. I have always been a regular follower but feel that the site continues to get stronger. I find Pete’s crew particularly useful for reporting on the social media apps and trends that are powered by so many of our clients’ technologies.

The Economist: Another regular favorite and great fodder for in-flight reading when I have a good few hours to really digest the articles. If I could have another career, I would love to write for the Economist. I had the privilege of working with the Economist Intelligence Unit team last year, promoting one of their online research tools. I love this self-titled “newspaper’s” tone of voice, quality of writing and global view – often so hard to find on a day to day basis!

Blink: There has been much hype about this interesting read, for good reason. Malcolm Gladwell examines how and why we make decisions and how to practice the art of “thin slicing.” I recommend it!
