I currently have three full-time jobs: preparing my home to go on the market in a couple of weeks (not easy with nearly 12+ years of accumulated stuff and a sweet husband who tends to hold onto everything he’s ever acquired), starting the search for a loft/condo in San Francisco AND handling my “day” job of working with a number of clients on PR launches and ongoing communications strategy.
Oh yea, I’m also in the beginning stages of planning the annual, week-long, wilderness backpacking trip for somewhere in the California Sierras, dreaming of an island vacation, searching for the ultimate food and wine experiences, and cooking up a storm whenever I can.
So, when I’m not reading about healthcare reform or the Sandra-Jesse saga (tough to avoid either topic), my online reading choices reflect a few of my many, multiple personalities…
SocketSite and Curbed SF: I cannot start my day without consulting these two San Francisco real-estate blogs. While SocketSite is the snarkier of the two, both are good reads, chockfull of useful information and insight. They are also highly entertaining with a very active community of constant-commenters.
NAB Show 2010: I’m working on getting some press meetings for a client at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters conference, so I’ve been spending some quality time on its site, as well as the newly revamped site of client Immersive Media. Check out the way-cool 360-degree video footage!
St. John Webcam and On St. John: As many of my friends and colleagues know all too well, I love (and got married on) the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. When I need a break, I transport myself to the Caribbean by checking out the Cruz ferry dock webcam views, as well as the daily island updates at On St. John.
Before I head home each night, I invariably check out Epicurious for inspiration on what to cook up for dinner. Their iPhone app is particular helpful as it automatically creates shopping lists for each recipe. Another website with an excellent iPhone app is 7x7 Magazine’s “The 2010 Big Eat SF: 100 Things to Try Before You Die.” The “Big Eat 2010 Scavenger Hunt” iPhone app, powered by FoodSpotter, is fun. You get to compete with others to see how many of the 100 incredible restaurant meals you can eat by the end of the year! I haven’t been that active on it yet but plan to be once I’m an official SF resident.
Craigslist: I have officially become addicted to posting and selling off lots of the aforementioned accumulated stuff on Craigslist. It’s so easy to do, and every single buyer and potential buyer I’ve encountered has been terrific and friendly. If you haven’t bought or sold anything on Craigslist, I encourage you to try it. It’s a great way to recycle gear in a commitment to be more “green” Thus far, the hubby and I have found buyers for countless power tools, a home gym, an entertainment center-armoire, golf clubs, crockpot, chafing dish, shelving units, camping gear and more.
