For many of us, seeing is believing. Although the photos and news footage that continue to come out of Haiti have shown us many images of devastation, none has conveyed it as powerfully as the 360-degree, interactive web videos captured using Immersive Media’s video technology. If you haven’t seen these images, you are among the minority; check them out at www.immersivemedia.com
While the technology has found application in many other areas—entertainment, surveillance, media/advertising—to name a few, its use in Haiti has truly captured the attention of the world. It is enabling anyone with a computer to view scenes that are otherwise visible only by those on the ground in Haiti. It’s incredible powerful use of amazing technology.
Immersive Media reports that organizations in more than 50 countries have requested the 360-degree, interactive footage, as well as relief agencies and too many news-gathering operations to name. CNN was first news organization to share the visuals, and continues to provide updates on the cnn.com site.
We salute our friends at Immersive Media for their contributions to the Haiti efforts and are proud to be their PR partner!
